Meta Apes is now live on the BNB Application Sidechain: gamers to ‘earn & truly own their in-game assets’

Meta Apes is a free-to-play and play-to-earn massively multiplayer online mobile-first game that is now live on the BNB Application Sidechain (BAS). According to a Tuesday press release, Meta Apes is available for Android devices on Google Play while Apple users will have to wait a bit longer.

Creating a ‘community-oriented’ game

Meta Apes takes place in a post-apocalyptic reality in which apes have already taken over the world and are eyeing an expansion to space. Players work with their Gang to become the strongest Clan and win a race to space.

Meta Apes Business Lead Taylor Shim commented in the press release the “community-oriented” game offers traditional gamers the opportunity to “earn & truly own their in-game assets”. Since it is built on the blockchain, gamers benefit from a “much more interactive and enjoyable” experience. The executive added:

“Building on an application-focused sidechain helps us avoid a lot of the common issues seen in blockchain gaming like network congestion and giving us a lot more flexibility in terms of game design & tokenomics.”

From Web2 to Web3

Meta Apes taps Ankr’s gaming software development kit (SDK) to combine Web2 characteristics gamers are used to with incentives and monetization mechanisms that define Web3. Since the game is built for the blockchain, it will include in-game cryptocurrencies, NFT characters, and digital ownership.

What this means is a user’s data will live on the blockchain rather than on a server that is owned and operated by a traditional gaming studio. As such, players can trade or sell their in-game assets and earn while playing.

Since Ankr also helped build the BAS, Meta Apes offers users superior throughput and low transaction fees. In fact, Ankr’s SDKs can help game studios convert their traditional Web2 games to new-age Web3 by adding NFTs, crypto payment technology, and other mechanisms.

According to the press release, Ankr’s Gaming SDK helped convert Meta Apes from Web2 to Web3 in around a month.
