IOTA to Power Personal ID Authentification System

IOTA to Power Personal ID Authentification System

IOTA has been at the bleeding edge of Internet of Things (IoT) technology since its genesis in 2015. Since then, IOTA developers have been creating the technological infrastructure by which IoT objects can communicate and transact financially. And while the bulk of IOTA’s extensive framework is software, the protocol has made a bold move into hardware-based identity authentication. This innovation could be a sign to buy and hold MIOTA.

IAMPASS is a hardware device that can read your handprint. Handprint vein patterns can be stored on the IOTA network, and immutably linked to your unique personal identity. An IAMPASS unit could do away with all of your internet passwords, or allow you into a restricted area at work without you having to wear a key pass. IAMPASS technology could allow you to pay for a vehicle rental, or check in at the movie theatre, without ever having to swipe your credit card.

There are endless applications for this innovative IOTA-based technology, one so reminiscent of sci-fi movies we’ve watched all of our lives. What’s more, the highly secure nature of the IOTA Tangle makes this ID method more secure than those based on government-issued codes. A code can be stolen, but no one can steal the living vein pattern that makes the palm of your hand unique.

What Does This Mean For the Future of IOTA and MIOTA?

The IAMPASS announcement marks one of the most tangible ways for IOTA to indicate its forward momentum. But this isn’t the only news drawing MIOTA buyers to exchange platforms.

In April of this year, the first IOTA Smart Charging Station was introduced. The electric vehicle charging station allows users to charge their vehicles while transacting with the IOTA cryptocurrency. Integration with IAMPASS would make this charging option all the more convenient – a goal consistent with IOTA’s stated plan of reducing consumption friction in conventional technologies.

In May, IOTA announced its integration with data systems involved with the United Nations. IOTA’s Tangle was used to make these more transparent, secure, and efficient. In June, IOTA and Volkswagen released a proof of concept for IOTA integration with developing autonomous car systems.

In July, the European Union granted IOTA permission to advance with plans for energy positive smart cities. The Audi Think Tank made a similar partnership with IOTA in August, for collaboration on smart transportation systems in the Internet of Things.

In late August, international tech giant Fujitsu announced that IOTA would be its protocol of choice for its IT manufacturing service.

IAMPASS represents yet another way IOTA will make its digital solutions useful in the physical world. Investors and analysts have always evangelised the potential of blockchain systems (in IOTA’s case, Tangle systems) in digital environments. However, due to the fact that conventional technologies already permeate our homes, schools, and stores, it was sometimes hard to imagine blockchain software doing the same. IOTA’s impact on physical systems is changing this.

It’s only a matter of time before the Internet of Things pervades all aspects of our lives. We can’t be sure that IOTA will be the technology framework that connects these devices, but IAMPASS makes IOTA’s future more like than ever before. MIOTA investors could have a sleeping giant on their hands.
