Table of Contents

Services

XTB offers trading services across six major asset classes.

Forex Trading

XTB account holders get access to 57 currency pairs including major ones like GBP/USD and some exotics like CHF/PLN at interbank prices from top-tier banks. Spreads start as low as 1 pip for EUR/USD to about 4.7 pips for more exotic pairs like EUR/NOK.

Trading accounts can access leverage of up to 500x their capital to set positions of varying lot sizes. There are three lot sizes to choose from with XTB, they include standard lots (100,000 units), mini lots (10,000 units), and micro lots (1,000 units).

There are no minimum deposit limits impositions when trading currencies, however, you may not be able to open trades if your account balance is lower than what’s required based on your chosen pair, lot size, and stop loss parameters.

XTB supports Forex trading 24 hours a day on weekdays.

Indices Trading

With XTB, you can trade 30 indices from major markets like the US, UK, Japan, Germany, France, India, and also less popular markets like Brazil, Czech Republic, Mexico, and South Korea, and the Netherlands.

Most of the indices offered are composites of various stock or bond markets in their countries of origin. XTB charges competitive spreads on indices, as low as 0.3 pips for major indices like the S&P 500, and up to 80 pips for more exotic indices like the Mexican Composite.

The maximum leverage of 1:500 applies to indices, although the limit is much lower for most of them. We found that the range is between 1:33 to 1:200.

Commodities Trading

XTB’s commodities offerings include CFDs for over 28 internationally traded goods, from metals like Aluminum and Copper, to cash crops like Cocoa, Coffee, and Corn, to livestock like Cattle, and the regulars (Gold, Silver, Oil).

We noticed that XTB offers more commodities than most brokers who mostly stick to Gold, Silver, and Oil. For example, you can trade the SCHATZ2, an instrument whose price is based on quotes of the contracts for medium-term debt issued by the German government.

We found that we could also trade CO2 emission rights in the UK using contracts that are based on their quotations. This gives traders more trading opportunities.

Spreads start at 2 pips for bond-based instruments and go as high as 64 points for Nickel. Leverage is capped at 1:67 for commodities aside from popular ones like Gold and Silver which can be traded with a 1:500 leverage ratio.

Stock CFD Trading

XTB has a wide collection of stock CFDs, 1,904 as of writing. The collection spans securities in 17 countries including popular regions like the US, UK, Japan, and Hong Kong, and less popular ones like Belgium and Denmark.

Note that you cannot buy the stocks directly, instead you trade derivatives that track their prices. This allows you to open leveraged positions and trade both long and short directions.

Available leverage for stocks is capped at 1:5, although it gets lower for some stocks. The minimum order size is also quite different from that of currency pairs. The minimum position size you can open depends on the country in which the stock trades.

For example, the minimum trade size for US stocks is 50 USD. For British stocks, it is 100 GBP. You can check the instruments page for more details.

ETF CFD Trading

XTB lists CFDs for 156 exchange traded funds (ETFs) across various markets and countries. Most of the ETFs available are from popular providers like Blackrock’s iShares, Vanguard, SPDR, ARK, although some are from lesser known providers like DIREXION, Invesco, and Kraneshares.

Available leverage for ETFs is usually capped at 1:5, although it may be lower for some. The minimum size per order is one share of the chosen ETF.

Crypto Trading

With XTB, you get access to 46 crypto CFDs commission free with a maximum leverage of 1:2 for most crypto CFDs aside the most popular ones like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Ripple, Litecoin, and Stellar which can be traded with 1:5 leverage.

Because of the volatility of the crypto market, spreads are floating and dynamic. However, popular crypto like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Ripple, EOS, Bitcoin Cash, and Binance Coin have fixed spreads, expressed in percentages.

Why You Should Use It

XTB stands out from other brokers by offering streamlined but powerful tools and services that traders can leverage. The platform is straightforward with streamlined funding methods and innovative trading software.

The broker is well regulated with licences from the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK, the Komisja Nadzoru Finansowego (KNF) in Poland, the Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores in Spain, and the Financial Services Commission in Belize through various entities under the XTB Group.

Trading accounts are commission free for stock, ETF, and crypto CFDs, and can use up to 1:500 leverage for currency pairs, 1:200 for indices, 1:67 for most commodities, 1:5 for stock and ETF CFDs, and 1:2 for crypto CFDs.

Customer service is also adequate as support staff can be reached via live chat and email all day during the week.

Finally, pricing is transparent as the commission table outlines charges for various services and activities on the platform.

Verdict

XTB is a securities broker with experience, a powerful platform, and a large collection of tradable securities.

We see several merits to using the platform like the in-built trading calculator which estimates profit, loss, and risk before you open trades, it’s xStation trading software which has won awards, and its to-the-point funding process.

However, there are things to be desired, like its funding methods being limited to USD and a lack of support for the popular MT4/5 trading software.

Nonetheless, traders at different points on their journey will find a good companion with XTB as its tight spreads, extensive list of securities, and strong regulatory position make for a solid broker overall.
